da realbet: January has barely even started and Leeds United’s squad is already weaker than it was a few weeks ago.
da luck: Eddie Nketiah has gone back to Arsenal and Jack Clarke has returned to Tottenham, so that leaves Leeds needing to spring into action in the transfer market.
Phil Hay has previously stated that Leeds will look to target three positions in the transfer window, with two of those being a striker and winger to replace the departing youngsters. But with their current FFP situation leaving them with little room to manoeuvre, we have to ask how they’d fund three arrivals?
Leeds failed to do much last summer, opting for loan signings rather than permanent deals because of the lack of movement they were allowed.

Fortunately, it seems as if there could be a workaround in January, and Marcelo Bielsa has already revealed it.
The manager’s recent comments on Tyler Roberts’ versatility show that Leeds may not need to sign both a striker and a winger.
The Argentine spoke highly of the Welshman after the West Brom game saying:
“He didn’t feel 100 per cent recovered from the problem in his leg. Maybe he could have participated, but we didn’t want to risk him.
“We think he’s a choice at centre-forward and also as playmaker. He can play as a winger too.”
The fact that Roberts can play as both a winger and a striker means that Leeds simply don’t need to sign a Clarke replacement. They may not even need someone to come in for Nketiah either.
The Spurs man appeared just once this season in the league before being recalled, so his presence won’t really be missed, and the fact that Roberts can play in his spot means that the depth he provided won’t be lacking either.
This of course, means that Leeds won’t have to bring in a new player on the wing, in turn saving space on the wage bill and helping to alleviate United’s FFP situation.
In other news, Phil Hay has provided a negative update on Leeds’ pursuit of Che Adams.
