da apostebet: Despite an impressive win against West Ham in the EFL Cup, Manchester United’s league form has stuttered.
da apostaganha: The Old Trafford side only have one victory in their last seven Premier League games and need to start winning games if they’re to push for a Champions League place.
Jose Mourinho will have money to spend in January and is likely to use his resources to continue the rebuilding of this Manchester United squad.
With defenders, midfielders and attackers all needed, there’s lots of work to do. Man United are in a tough position in that they need high quality players halfway through a season, when club’s are perhaps traditionally more hesitant to sell or only willing to do so for a massive fee.
Can Man United navigate the market and pick some players that turn their fortunes around?
Here are our FIVE players that we think should be on Mourinho’s Christmas wish list…
Antoine Griezmann
Premier League fans are desperate to see Antoine Griezmann move from La Liga to the Premier League. One of Europe’s best players, the Frenchman has been a sensation for club and country over the last few seasons.
Since joining from Real Sociedad in 2014, the forward has scored 66 goals in 124 games for Atletico Madrid. If he came to Old Trafford it would be by far the biggest story of the entire window.
He’s ready to impact on the starting XI right now and would solve all of Mourinho’s on that right hand side.
If they have to money to burn, there’s no other player in Europe beyond the other elite four in La Liga that Man Utd should be looking to sign ahead of the French international.
Virgil van Dijk
The Southampton defender’s stock continues to rise in the game since his move from Celtic just 18 months ago. His next move is likely to be upwards of £30m and he’s a player that should most definitely be on Mourinho’s radar.
Strong, imposing, skilful… he really has grown into one of the league’s best defenders and he’s starting to string together excellent performances with even more consistency than in the past.
There’s no doubt he will end up at a massive club, Manchester United need to ensure that it’s them.
Leon Bailey
Having won the Belgian Younger Player of the Year award last season with Genk, winger Leon Bailey has made another step up this season, putting in excellent performances in the Europa League.
United have struggled in the wide areas this term, especially on the right-hand side and Bailey is a player who offers genuine pace and skill on the flanks.
His ability to dribble is exceptional, in his match against Athletic Bilbao this season he completed eight successful dribbles and scored for the Belgian side.
He’ll likely move for a decent fee to his next club and Mourinho should get in early on the 19-year-old or risk missing out on one of Europe’s brightest prospects.
Victor Lindelof
Sweden international Victor Lindelof is attracting attention from across Europe for his performances with Benfica this season.
The 6ft. 2″ central defender broke into the Benfica first-team last season and hasn’t looked back since. He’s excelled this season, helping the Portuguese side to eight clean sheets in the 16 matches he’s featured in.
That kind of consistency would be vital in a Man United defence that has faltered under Mourinho so far.
It would require big money to attract him to Old Trafford but at the age of just 22, he has over a decade of football in him that Man United should think very hard about securing.
John Obi Mikel
John Obi Mikel is a known quantity to Mourinho – it was the Man United manager who brought him to the Premier League and gave him the opportunity to become a regular first team star for the Stamford Bridge side.
United need a dedicated defensive midfielder to give Paul Pogba the freedom to be an even more devastating force than he already is and Mikel offers that.
What’s more, Mourinho would likely get the best of him straight away and unlike other signings would probably not need time to settle in. He’s made close to 250 Premier League appearances and has won it all, experience that could help bring this United side to a new level again.
