Peru can be labelled as the underdogs heading into the tournament. But who is in their 2024 Copa America squad?
Given a dismal showing in the ongoing World Cup 2026 qualifiers, Peru will need to punch above their weight in the 2024 Copa America.
La Blanquirroja made it to the last four in four of their last five Copas, besides having won the tournament twice (1939 and 1975). Their recent best was a runner-up finish in the 2019 edition that was held in Brazil.
Peru may be termed as the underdog after being drawn to face Argentina, Chile and Canada.
After a stint with Peruvian first-division side Universitario de Deportes, Uruguayan manager Jorge Fossati was announced as the head coach of the Peru national football team.
With upcoming international friendly games against Paraguay and El Salvador on June 7 and 14, respectively, who will make Fossati's Copa America squad? GOAL takes a look…

Orlando City's Pedro Gallese has over 100 international appearances and would remain the number one choice in goal.
While Carlos Caceda and Diego Romero have been named in the partial preliminary list, Gallese is the only one to be called up for the friendly matches against Paraguay and El Salvador.

Luis Advincula is likely to remain the first choice at right-back, with Marcos Lopez assuming the responsibility at left-back.
Luis Abram, Alexander Callens, Miguel Araujo, and Anderson Santamaria are among the experienced centre-backs in the side, but along with Lopez, have not been listed in the preliminary squad but are set to partake in the June friendlies.
Oliver Sonne is also set to join Advincula and co. for the last two friendlies ahead of the Copa America finals.

Celta Vigo's Renato Tapia is the most experienced midfielder in the contingent.
Orlando City's Wilder Cartegena can marshal the midfield as well as the comparatively more experienced Piero Quispe of Pumas UNAM.
Jesus Castillo and Sergio Pena would push for their places, too, being called up for the June friendlies.

Andre Carillo, who started against Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay in the World Cup qualifiers, has been included in the squad for the friendlies. Gianluca Lapadula has assumed the responsibility upfront, whenever required.
Andy Polo can be deployed on either side but is predominantly a right winger, with Bryan Reyna and Franco Zanelatto emerging as the options down the left flank. Among the trio, only Reyna has been called up for the Paraguay and El Salvador friendlies.
