da brwin: As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is set to leave the club in the January transfer window.
What’s the story?
da bet7k: Sviatchenko has had a disappointing season, playing just two matches and not featuring in any capacity for Brendan Rodgers’ side since way back in August. While injuries are partly to blame, he’s since failed to win his place back in the team since returning to fitness.
Now he’s set to say goodbye to Celtic, with The Scottish Sun reporting they are willing to listen to offers for him next month.
There should be interest, with the paper also reporting that the likes of Besiktas and Copenhagen both made moves to sign him in the last transfer window.
His replacement would appear to be RB Leipzig defender Marvin Compper, who is reported to be joining the Hoops imminently in a £1m deal.
Defensive woes
Celtic’s defensive problems are well known and have been brought into sharp focus in recent matches after dropped points away to Hibernian and a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Hearts on Sunday afternoon.
Rodgers badly needs to make changes, with supporters desperate to see their defence play as a cohesive unit that is comfortable on the ball and fierce when dealing with the opposition.
With a massive UEFA Europa League tie with FC Zenit on the horizon, it’s an issue that fans will be hoping can be fixed with some shrewd transfer business in January.
