da blaze casino: Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson has stated that his side will be out to pick up points against Manchester City on Sunday, as Martin O’Neill has inspired improved performances.
With Roberto Mancini’s men drawing 0-0 with West Brom in their last game, Larsson feels the current Premier League leaders will be motivated to get three points at the Stadium of Light, but says this will not be an easy task for the visitors.
“We are now expecting to pick up points and that will be no different when we play Manchester City,” he told The Sunderland Echo.
“It will be incredibly hard, but it is one of those games you really look forward to as you can test yourselves against the very best.
“It is not an easy place to come and we want to get it back to the fortress it has been in the past.
“Everton looked very happy to take a point on Boxing Day, which shows how hard it is to come to Sunderland at the moment. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come,” he stated.
The Black Cats have looked more focussed and determined since O’Neill took over in the Wearside hotseat, and the Sweden international feels his side can continue their progression up the league.
“We are desperate to push up the league and hopefully we have shown we are capable of doing that.
“Everyone can see we’re heading in the right direction. We’ve picked up a few points recently and have to keep that going.
“The manager has come in at a time when we’ve got a lot of games, so we are learning more and more about what he wants and vice versa,” Larsson concluded.
