da gbg bet: Chelsea once again proved the doubters wrong last weekend as they sailed past Hull in a comfortable 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
da spicy bet: Much was said about Diego Costa’s potential move to China and his apparent fall-out with Antonio Conte, but it was the Spaniard who was once again the main man for the Blues as he opened the scoring with a clinical finish from just outside the six-yard-box after Victor Moses cut the ball back. Gary Cahill then made it 2-0 in the second half with a simple headed finish from a Cesc Fabregas free-kick.
Costa’s celebration after the opener effectively ended the rumours of a move away from the Bridge, as the former Atletico Madrid man gesticulated the action of gossip (for want of a better phrase) with his hands as he wheeled away. You could sense the smugness in his actions as he appeared to bat away the talk in typical Costa fashion.
So it appears Chelsea’s top scorer is set to stay. However that does not mean the sagas at the Bridge are over, and with only a week left in the transfer market could Chelsea be set to invest in order to keep up their march towards the title?
Here are THREE last-minute deals we think the Blues should consider…
Fernando Llorente
Even though the Spaniard has recently talked up his happiness at Swansea despite likes with a somewhat surprising move to Chelsea, it would be no shock to see this one get over the line. Conte is a huge fan of the 6ft. 5″ forward, whom he coached at Juventus, and with getting over the line to secure the title in his debut season the priority, he’s likely to push to get a deal done if he believes it will help his cause.
The ex-Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao target man would offer a different option for Chelsea and allow them to go from back to front quickly if they’re chasing a game, while, as he showed against Liverpool recently, he is a genuine goalscoring threat.
Alvaro Morata
This would be an ambitious move, but Chelsea could do with a top-class option to back Diego Costa up, and Morata emerged as a target during the rumours surrounding the bad-boy forward’s future. In truth, Conte wanted the player during the summer, so it’s unlikely his interest has subsided hugely over the course of a few months, and with the ex-Juventus star struggling for game time at Real Madrid – he’s appeared as a substitute in La Liga more often than he’s started – a huge offer may get a late deal over the line.
Michail Antonio
Antonio has been West Ham’s best player this season without a doubt. While he may not be the most technically gifted, his energy, pace and eye for goal (mostly with his head) make him a devastating prospect for defenders. Ironically, the Englishman reminds me of a young Victor Moses, again, just better with his head.
The Hammers are keen to keep Antonio at the London Stadium with a new contract, however, a move to the league leaders may just be too good to refuse for the player and until the ink is dry he’s available. Versatile and a threat down both flanks, Antonio would be the perfect support for both Moses and Marcos Alonso, and would boost Chelsea’s options going forward.
