Which Premier League clubs want him?
According to the Express & Star, both West Bromwich Albion and Southampton are interested in Wimmer.
It is believed that the Baggies’ first choice is Middlesbrough centre-back Ben Gibson, but manager Tony Pulis could turn to Wimmer if he fails to land his prime target.
If the Austrian did switch to The Hawthorns, then he is likely to be handed regular game time, and he gets his wish of staying in England’s top flight.
With regards to Southampton, they may not desperately try to bring in Wimmer if they keep hold of Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk.
If the Saints are forced into selling their top defender, the Spurs outcast would have big boots to fill.
Most Southampton fans would prefer an established defender to come into the fold if Van Dijk were to leave, and it is difficult to see Wimmer being that man.
