da pinup bet: Shane Long returned from injury to snatch the winner for West Brom as they moved into the top half of the table and kept Bolton firmly entrenched in the bottom three.
da aviator aposta: The Republic of Ireland striker pounced to head home his fourth goal of the season just a few short weeks after chipping a bone in his knee at Aston Villa. Manager Roy Hodgson signed Long from Reading for a record £7.5 million in the summer and he went someway to repaying the faith showed in him by scoring the deciding goal in an entertaining contest. It was the second time the Baggies had led in the game after Jerome Thomas’s early goal was cancelled out by an Ivan Klasnic penalty. The Trotters came into the game searching for back-to-back wins for the first time this season after thrashing Stoke 5-0 at the Reebok before the international break. However they soon slipped back into old ways as the home side ran out deserved winners to move up to 10th after a run of only two wins in the last seven. Owen Coyle’s didn’t pose too much of a threat to Albion although they were unlucky not to take the lead early on.
Chris Eagles scored two superb goals against the Potters last week and clearly has a taste for the spectacular as he tried his luck with a dipping volley that flew narrowly narrowly. Gary Cahill then saw his header cleared off the line as then visitors started brightly but thats about as good as it got prior to Thomas’ opener. The former Arsenal man’s pace was proving to be a nuisance to the Bolton back line he used it to full effect on 16 minutes latching onto Zolton Gera’s through ball before firing past Jussi Jaaskelainen. However he went from hero to villain five minutes later after gifting the visitors a penalty following a clumsy foul on Fabrice Muamba. Klasnic confidently stepped up to fire past Ben Foster to restore parity and score his third in two games. Both sides have opportnies to take a lead into the break with Mark Davies’ fishing not up to scratch after a strong run from midfield whilst Gera could only shoot tamely at Jaaskelainen.
It was the home side who emerged for the second half with the intentions of claiming the all important second goal and it they was no surprise to see Long restore their lead. Nicky Shorey’s superb cross was inch perfect for the striker who guided the ball into the net to cap a remarkable comeback from injury. It was the least West Brom deserved for the tenacious way they started after the break with the combination of Gera, Thomas and Long looking threatening every time the ball came near their feet. As the game started to fade so did Bolton’s hopes of a comeback and they almost fell further behind with Davies’ blushes spared after he almost deflected a shot into his own net. The win moves West Brom away from the danger zone and keeps the Trotters firmly in trouble going into the gruelling festive period.
